ALABAMA -- A Eufaula woman is accused of abusing and neglecting a 5-month-old puppy to the point where the animal couldn't walk.
Latara Harris, 33, was arrested Aug. 13 and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, court records show. She was released from the Barbour County Jail after posting $5,000 bond.
The charges stemmed from an animal cruelty complaint received at an apartment on July 27, the Dothan Eagle reported.
An animal control officer found the black puppy on the front porch.
According to court records, the dog's collar was embedded in its skin. The puppy also had lacerations to its right arm and chest area making it unable to move.
The officer also found the puppy didn't have water or adequate shelter.
Harris' preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 29.
