OKLAHOMA -- The man accused of 13 felony counts of animal cruelty turned himself in to authorities Friday, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies issued a warrant of arrest for George Wesley Gilchrist Jr. earlier this month for 13 felony counts of animal cruelty involving 24 dogs who were rescued.
The dogs, who were mostly greyhounds, were found severely malnourished and taken into the care of the Human Society of Tulsa. Thanks to 2 Works to You viewers and the Humane Society, most of the dogs have found new homes and are in good health.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says Gilchrist Jr. bonded out and is scheduled to appear in court September 15.
