WEST VIRGINIA -- A resident of Stollings, W.Va. was arrested Aug. 6 after authorities were alerted to a neglected animal on her property.
On July 26, Trooper S.P. Bowling with the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) received an animal cruelty complaint for the residence of Jennifer Renee Bailey, 31, of Stollings.
Upon arrival at the property, Bowling reports he found a dog that appeared neglected with visible ribs, hip bones and vertebrae.
While questioning Bailey, Bowling reports she advised she had been out of town for a week and had been unable to feed the dog. Bowling was able to find a witness who stated they believed the dog had not been fed in about a month.
Bailey is charged with a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals. If Bailey is found guilty, she could be forced to spend up to six months in a state correctional facility and pay up to $2,000 in fines. Bond was set to $3,500.
