Mother and Daughter Indicted on Animal Cruelty Charges

VIRGINIA - A mother and daughter in Martinsville are facing animal cruelty charges stemming from the discovery of neglected and dead cats in a house.

Back in May ABC 13 reported that dozens of cats - 27 living and 10 dead - were rescued from a Martinsville home.

Police estimated they had been without food and water for at least two weeks.

Now a grand jury has indicted 36-year-old Latricia Yates, and her mother, 59-year old-Barbara Ray - on dozens of counts of animal cruelty charges.

Yates is also charged with 10 felony cruelty to animal charges.
