Off-duty Porter cop shot neighbor’s dog, says chickens were threatened

INDIANA -- An off-duty police officer in Northwest Indiana may face charges for shooting his neighbor’s dog.

The Porter County Sheriff’s office says Jason Casbon shot the dog with a rifle.

Casbon told police the dog was threatening his chickens.


Indiana law allows you to shoot a dog if it’s on your property attacking livestock.

The dog is recovering from multiple bullet wounds.
