Queensbury man, George Dane, charged with animal cruelty after posting his skeletal dog for sale online

NEW YORK -- A Queensbury man was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty on Wednesday after an online posting that showed the emaciated dog led to a police investigation, officials said.

George D. Dane, 55, of Alpine Avenue was charged after an investigation by State Police and Queensbury Animal Control Officer Jim Fitzgerald.

One of the lab-pit bull mix's owners had posted photos of it online in an effort to sell it, officials said.

A police officer saw the post and alerted Fitzgerald, and State Police charged Dane. He was released, pending prosecution in Queensbury Town Court.

The dog is expected to recover. The investigation is continuing.
