Daughter of Dog Mauling Victim, Speaks Exclusively with KMIR

CALIFORNIA -- One man was killed and a woman is recovering following an attack by two dogs in North Shore Tuesday morning. The attack happened around 6 a.m. on Sea Gull Drive and Dolphin Drive.

According to a family member, the man who was killed by the attack was 65 year-old  Emilio Rios Carranza Sr.

Rios was watering his uncle's plants, when he was attacked by two or three neighborhood pit bull - boxer mix dogs.

Luisa Rodriguez, the woman who was later attacked, came out of her house to try and help Rios when she was bit by the same dogs. She is now in the hospital recovering from serious injuries to her arm.

Rios was a good man who enjoyed laughing and spending time with his family, a family member said.

Michelle says the dogs are owned by her neighbors.

"The dogs belong to our neighbors, they coincidentally probably jumped it (the fence) or they slipped through when the neighbors left to work," Rodriguez's daughter Michelle said.

Riverside County Sheriffs did not confirm who the dogs belong to. The County's Department of Animal Services took both dogs into custody. Officials are recommending people be extra careful with stray dogs. They also want to make sure people call animal control services if they ever see one.

We are waiting to hear whether the dogs will be put down. Police are still investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Tijerina from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Thermal Station at 760-863-8990.
