CALIFORNIA -- A 10News viewer watched in horror as a pit bull attacked his Miniature Pinscher, and now he is looking for the pit bull's owner.
Patrick Lumley's dog Bobo Bear was nearly killed Wednesday afternoon at Melba Bishop Park in Oceanside.
"I thought, 'I'm going to lose a really, really good friend," said Lumley. "Someone I hoped to have around another 12 to 13 years."
Bobo Bear is in the ICU at California Veterinary Specialists with severe intestinal damage.
"He was in the dog's mouth being used like a chew toy," Lumley explained. "He was twisting him back and forth."
The bill for Bobo Bear's care is $7,000 and climbing. He has severe intestinal damage and needs round-the-clock care. If Bobo Bear can't hold down food, he will die.
Lumley said he found a cellphone and chain collar at the scene of the attack that he believes belongs to the other dog's owner. He told 10News she took off after the incident.
Lumley called the police and rushed Bobo Bear to an animal hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
The San Diego Humane Society's Law Team is looking into this case.
