Many dogs in Elgin, Illinois, deemed dangerous or vicious

ILLINOIS -- A sampling of the police reports that led to a dog being added to the city's list of dangerous or vicious dogs:.

On June 25, 2011, on the 900 block of Lavoie Avenue, Elgin, a male pit bull, Tommy, broke free of his leash while on a walk and attacked a black miniature poodle. The poodle's owner was bit in the arm as she attempted to free her dog. Tommy was deemed dangerous Sept. 27, 2011.

On Aug. 7, 2011, on the 400 block of Lawrence Avenue, a male pit bull, Dozer, jumped through an open window and through a window screen and attacked and killed a poodle. Dozer was deemed vicious on Oct. 25, 2011.

On Sept. 6, 2012, on the 500 block of North Lyle Avenue, a female pit bull, Maya, got through a loose fence board and bit a woman in the upper left thigh as she walked through the neighborhood. The dog also charged at and bit a passer-by who stopped to help. Maya was deemed dangerous on Oct. 3, 2012.

On Sept. 18, 2012, on the 100 block of Cherry Street, a male boxer mix, Scruff, bit a postal worker on the right hand as he attempted to protect himself from another dog that charged at him. Scruff was deemed dangerous on Dec. 5. 2012.

On Sept. 22, 2012, on the 300 block of West Chicago Street, a black female shepherd, Paloma, jumped out of her fenced-in yard and bit a 5-month-old pit bull in the buttocks, then jumped back into her enclosure. Palma was deemed dangerous on Oct. 17, 2012.

South Elgin officer saves woman, nephew from pit bull

On March 30, 2014, on the 200 block of Melrose Avenue, a female boxer/pit mix, Abbi, ran from an unsecured backyard and bit a Jack Russell/beagle mix. Abbi was declared dangerous on April 16, 2014.

On April 2, 2014, on the 1000 block of Todd Farm Drive, a male pit bull mix, Odin, is accused of scratching the arm of a man who asked the owners if the dog bit, then went to pet it before getting permission from the owners. Odin was deemed dangerous on Jan. 21, 2015.

On July 1, 2014, on the 400 block of Addison Street, a male pit bull, MJ, broke loose from his leash and attacked a Chihuahua playing in the front yard with two girls. MJ was named dangerous on Aug. 6, 2014.
