Louisiana: Washington Parish Sheriff's Office helps family find their lost Husky

LOUISIANA -- Although locating a lost dog pales in comparison to a crime issue involving parish citizens, Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Demi Rice was able to assist in locating a missing dog and reuniting him with his owner.

After Scott Clements reported his dog missing, Detective Rice, who normally serves as a victim’s advocate, put her investigative skills to work.  Clements reported that Kodiak escaped through an open door and he was unable to find him after searching for more than a week.

Detective Rice contacted the Magnolia Chapter of the Humane Society of Louisiana and posted Kodiak’s picture on their website. Within a short period of time, they were contacted by a citizen who had found Kodiak and was anxious to locate his owner.  Within a few hours, Kodiak was re-united with Clements.

Sheriff Randy Seal commented.  “At a time when we are dealing with crime and drugs throughout the parish, and putting thieves and drug dealers in jail daily, it is refreshing to hear a good story like this.  I’m glad we could help Mr. Clements locate Kodiak and I appreciate the good work of Detective Rice and the Magnolia Chapter of the Humane Society of Louisiana.”
