MASSACHUSETTS -- The owner of a dog declared dangerous by selectmen says she feels the decision was unfair.
Dorothy Eleuterio said selectmen were told by her landlord that her dog bit him, requiring him to get seven stitches.
The board declared the dog dangerous and said he must be confined.
Eleuterio, of 470 Winthrop St., acknowledged in an interview with The Sun Chronicle that her dog Ezy is protective of her, and can be intimidating.
But, she said, the landlord, Isidro Bairos, should have called ahead of time so she could have taken her dog in the house.
“Why does he not call?” she said.
She said her dog has not been a problem in the six years she has lived there.
The incident happened in June and selectmen decided on the matter earlier this month.
Bairos told selectmen in the hearing on the matter that other tenants also were intimidated by the dog.
