Michigan: Little girl attacked by pit bull while visiting her friend's house gets $40,000 settlement after lawsuit filed

MICHIGAN -- Our dog bite attorneys recently won a $ 40,000.00 settlement for a nine year old girl in an Isabella County, Michigan lawsuit.

Our client was a guest at a friend’s house and was playing on the floor with her siblings. Suddenly and unexpectedly, the family dog bit her in the face causing several puncture wounds. She was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and received stitches.

The bite left two small scars on her face. She was treated by a plastic surgeon and the marks are now barely visible on her face. She will not require any additional medical care and treats it with a non-prescription cream at night. She has made a nice recovery from the attack.

We filed a lawsuit in the Isabella County Circuit Court in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Numerous depositions were taken of the parties and other eyewitnesses.

The dog owner had homeowner’s insurance coverage agreed to pay a settlement of $ 40,000.00 before a jury trial.

The child’s funds will be placed in a structured settlement policy to use as a college fund beginning at age eighteen.
