INDIANA -- A local woman appeared in Vigo County court today on a slew of charges. All centered around multiple pit bulls and suspected dog fighting.
Concerned neighbors on Spruce Street called authorities in late October asking for a well-being check of several pit bulls. When the THPD officer couldn't view the dogs, Animal Control was called in. What they found was disturbing.
According to the probable cause affidavit one of the dogs had a ten pound weight around its neck. Several dogs were injured and they found syringes and medication typically linked to dog fighting.
The dogs were seized and taken to the Terre Haute Humane Shelter for treatment.
Alicia Morgan, the owner of the dogs, faces five counts of neglect or abandonment, class a misdemeanors and five counts of promoting an animal fighting contest, level six felonies.
Rob Roberts said, "In this particular situation it's not something we want in our community and like I said we don't know why the dogs were brought here, but certainly if there was any intention of bringing dog fighting into our community, we would want to nip that in the bud and make sure that doesn't happen."
At this time it's not believed dog fighting was happening in Terre haute, but that the animals had recently been brought to the area.
Morgan is back in court Monday.

I know for a fact these are not her dogs. Also she is not a resident of Terre Haute. She has lived in India apolis for the past 7 years
ReplyDeleteThen why was she charged? The police don't usually grab random people who live in other cities and charge them with felonies.
DeleteShe has not been charged with anything she has not even had her day in court. I know her personaly and I know she was just trying to help a friend and she is now caught in the middle. She has never been I trouble and she is a great mom and has a good job. I wish this all would just go away for her.
