Gregory Fargnoli, 26, may have sexually assaulted his girlfriend's dog with a broomstick before beating and stabbing it to death

MASSACHUSETTS -- An Auburn man charged with killing his girlfriend's dog may have sexually assaulted it with a broomstick before killing it, the Telegram & Gazette reports.

Gregory Fargnoli, 26, was charged after allegedly beating a 12-year-old Catahoula Leopard dog, named Pokadot, to death because it was keeping him awake.

He allegedly stabbed, struck and beat the dog, according to a roommate living inside the 16 Hill St. home in Auburn.

Pokadot had broken ribs, broken teeth, damage around his mouth and blood coming from her ears, authorities said last week.

The Telegram reports that an autopsy of Pokadot by a veterinarian at at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Grafton found the dog died from blunt force trauma.

The autopsy report found evidence "suggestive of forceful penetration of the dog's vagina," the Telegram reported.

Auburn Police were called to the Hill Street home around 7:22 p.m. Tuesday after Fargnoli's girlfriend, Tabitha Taylor, came home to find the dog dead and Fargnoli fast asleep.

After Fargnoli's arraignment in Central District Court on animal cruelty, firearms and assault charges last week, Taylor called her boyfriend's attack on the dog "sadistic."

Fargnoli allegedly told investigators that he "silenced" the dog, the prosecutor said at his arraignment last week.
