James Music, 28, charged after dead dog was found in dumpster

NORTH DAKOTA -- A North Dakota man has been charged with animal cruelty after a German Wire-Haired Pointer was found dead in a dumpster.

Court records show 28-year-old James Q. Music is facing one count of animal cruelty in Ward County.

The Minot Police Department on Wednesday said the dog was found Oct. 19 in the dumpster of a local business.

Animal Control conducted an investigation and determined that the dog's mouth was taped shut and the animal was beaten to death before its body was thrown into the dumpster.

Police say the investigation lead to Music's arrest. They say Music owned another German wire haired dog that is now under the custody of authorities.

Music is scheduled to appear in court Monday. His attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment on the case Wednesday.
