NEBRASKA -- A cat whose leg became caught in the grip of a steel trap chained to a utility pipe in an Omaha alley was freed Wednesday by a Nebraska Humane Society animal control officer.
The cat, Ivy, was writhing in pain before she was rescued, the Humane Society said.
Veterinarians did not feel a break on the leg during an exam, but it was swollen and worn and was difficult to assess, the Humane Society said. The cat's leg was stabilized with a cast.
The Humane Society said this was the third such incident animal control has seen in the last 30 days.
Leg hold traps are illegal within Omaha city limits.
