Oconee County Animal Control officer bitten while trying to separate pit bulls

GEORGIA -- An officer for the Oconee County Animal Control Unit was bitten last week while trying to separate three pit bulls which became entangled on chains, according to an Oconee County Sheriff’s report.

A deputy was called to assist the officer shortly before 3 p.m. Dec. 3 on Moreland Heights Road in Watkinsville where the dogs were tangled and two of the dogs were attacking the third dog.

The officers were using catch poles to contain the dogs, but one dog escaped and bit the animal control officer on the leg, the deputy reported.

The two attacking dogs were placed on the animal control vehicle for transportation to the shelter to be quarantined.

County officials said the officer who was bitten received medical treatment and is doing “fine.”
