Trial begins for Ronald Golden, accused of torturing and killing 22 Craigslist kittens

ALABAMA -- Ronald Golden, of Athens, is expected in court Monday on charges of animal cruelty.

Police say Golden would name the kittens he got from Craigslist before he threw them to the floor to break their necks or stomped them to death because he was "angry at the world."

According to reports, Golden told investigators he had a cat room where he would throw the kittens against the floor to break their necks, stomp on them or 'wring their necks. Police say there was blood spattered on the walls and floors.

Court records show that the alleged crimes were uncovered when a neighbor reported finding four dead cats in her yard during the month of September 2013.

Golden reportedly said he would get rid of the cats' bodies by throwing them over his fence and into the brush on his neighbors' property.

Investigators obtained consent from Golden to search his property and found five dead kittens in a brushy area at the back of his property.

Two kittens named Melvin and Mia and two dogs were found alive at the home. Apparently, the dogs were his actually pets and he took care of them. The two kittens were going to be his next victims.

Golden pleaded not guilty last summer.
