Kentucky: Evelyn Galloway, 49, caught on video repeatedly throwing dog into road

KENTUCKY -- On Wednesday the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Baxter woman on charges relating to an animal cruelty investigation.  Evelyn Galloway, 49 of Baxter was arrested by Chief Deputy Matt Cope and Deputy Travis Freeman.

Charges were obtained by Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Denny Jones after conducting an investigation.  In November 2015, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Humane Society.  The Humane Society had been contacted by an eye witness to an animal cruelty incident.  Deputy Denny Jones met with the Humane Society, witnesses, and observed the animal.


Witness statements were taken from neighbors and video surveillance from a nearby residence was obtained.

Galloway was observed throwing a mixed terrier across her fence and into the middle of the roadway in Baxter.  The mixed terrier limped back to the property and Galloway picked it up again and threw it into the roadway in front of an oncoming vehicle.


The animal was taken to a veterinarian for an examination.  It was discovered that it suffered a severely fractured right back limb.

Galloway was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.  The case remains under the investigation of Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Denny Jones.

The animal has since been rehabilitated.
