Louisiana: Todd Hammond charged with animal cruelty after bragging on Facebook about killing dog

LOUISIANA -- After a photo was posted on social media of a dead dog outraged people everywhere, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office reports the man accused of shooting the dog is now in custody.

Deputies say Todd Hammond, 699 Hwy 275, Tylertown, MS, was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Hammond was also issued a hunting violation for hunting without a license by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

During the investigation, detectives learned the shooting happened in Clifton, LA.

Deputies say Hammond cooperated in the investigation and made full admissions to hunting in Louisiana without a license and also to shooting a dog that was on his food plot.

"The abuse of animals is not to be taken lightly. The Sheriff's office takes animal cruelty seriously, and anybody who witnesses behavior like this should contact the Sheriff's office," said Sheriff Randy Seal.

Sheriff Seal continued, "Any person with knowledge of any crime is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at (985) 839-3434 and report what they know. The partnership between our office and our residents is an important tool in solving crime in our parish."

Hammond's bond has been set at $10,000.

Now that he's been caught and charged with a crime, Hammond is now said to be "remorseful". That's what they all say after their caught. Remorseful is when you shoot and kill the dog and then feel bad about it. He shot and killed this dog for no reason, stopped to take a photo of its body, logged into Facebook, went to the group page Balck hunters & fishing, uploaded the photo and then typed in his nasty comments -- bragging to everyone.

He is not remorseful. He does not feel bad about killing this poor dog. He feels badly about being caught. And as is usually the case, when they get caught and claim they're a good citizen who's never done anything like this before... it's not the first time they've done it. It's just the first time they've been caught.
