Michigan: Sex offender Kevin Roberts pleads guilty to hoarding and abusing 77 cats in his home

MICHIGAN -- A Marion Township man admitted Thursday that he did not provide “adequate care” to 10 or more cats seized from his property in August.

Kevin Michael Roberts answered “yes” when asked in 44th Circuit Court in Howell if 10 or more animals on his property “had not received adequate care” and “had some kind of illness.”

He entered the plea to animal cruelty to 10 or more animals as a habitual offender and faces up to eight years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 11.

Livingston County Animal Control officers took about 77 cats from Roberts’ home in the 2800 block of Dutcher Road in August. Authorities said one of the cats died.

Roberts told the Livingston Daily in an earlier interview that the colony of cats on his property belonged to the neighborhood, while about a dozen were personally his.

Roberts said the cats “are from around the neighborhood” or from those who drop them off because they know Roberts and his 72-year-old mother, Sharon Bath (aka Sharon Gail Bath), 72, who lives in the same home, will give the cats food and water.

Roberts’ mother, Sharon Gail Bath, also faces a charge of animal cruelty to 10 or more cats. She faces up to four years in prison if convicted as charged.

Roberts’ criminal history includes a 2005 conviction in Pontiac for child sexually abusive material, according to the state’s sex offender registry.

  1. Hey....wtf? Your information is totally wrong. I HAVE seen all the paperwork. You are just repeating and believing what the media says. You are idiots. You have no right to be putting this out there. Besides his previous offense has nothing to do with this.....it was also 10 years ago.
