CALIFORNIA -- A handful of Rancho Adobe firefighters spent their afternoon Thursday rescuing a subject a little fluffier than usual: a sheep that was trapped when a barn collapsed overnight.
The rescue mission at the Skillman Lane property outside Petaluma started at about 3:30 p.m., Rancho Adobe Engineer Kyle Heard said.
“We ended up gathering some of the homeowner’s wood to help shore up the barn, and we used some of our own shoring and our airbags to pump up the barn floor,” he said.
After about 20 minutes, the sheep was pulled to safety.
While the sheep seemed pretty tired, Heard said it didn’t seem to have suffered any serious injuries.
Firefighters placed the animal on their tarp and transported it into another barn.
