North Carolina: Jerome Johnson, 19, arrested and charged with animal cruelty after cutting off dog’s ears

NORTH CAROLINA -- A teenager is behind bars after deputies say he cut off a dogs ears.

Jerome Johnson, 19, was arrested and charged Thursday with felony animal cruelty for maiming and deforming an animal. Investigators say in January, Johnson injured the dog.


In collaboration with Pitt County Animal Control, the dog was taken into custody and treated.

Johnson was later determined to be the owner of the dog. Johnson is being held under a $53,000 bond.

The dog is now in the custody of Pitt Friends. His foster guardian reports that he is doing well.
