NORTH CAROLINA -- Two teens are charged with felony animal cruelty after deputies said they shot and killed three donkeys in January.
Deputies with the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office said Friday they took 17-year-old Daylin Cross Hancock and 18-year-old Brandon Gray Bennett, both of Reelsboro, into custody charging them with three counts each in the death of the animals.
Investigators found the animals were killed with a small caliber firearm. Witnesses also provided details about a suspect vehicle used in the crime. Other concerned citizens came forward, which led to the teen’s arrests and the seizure of the firearm used.
Bennett and Hancock were both placed in the Pamlico County Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond. They have a first appearance scheduled for February 12th, 2016 in Pamlico County District Court.
