Oklahoma: Jessica McBride, 36 and James Looney, 31, arrested after horrific allegations of animal neglect

OKLAHOMA -- An Edmond couple is in trouble with the law, after police said they found their dogs in deplorable conditions.

It was an anonymous tip that led police to the home at 9 E. Lincoln.

The caller had apparently been inside and was horrified about what he saw inside a dog crate in the kitchen.

He told police there were four dogs crammed inside the small crate.

“He said there was one dog, which was dead, lying in the crate," according to the report. "And, the other dogs were eating on it.”

“She had said multiple times that they weren’t, that they didn’t have any means of getting food, that they were going to try to get the dogs some food,” said Jenny Wagnon with the Edmond Police Department.

Edmond police said the dead dog had been buried by the time they checked the house but the others did not look good.

“One of the little dog’s bones, you know, skin and bones," Wagnon said "They all looked malnourished."

Police arrested Jessica McBride, 36 and James Looney, 31, for animal cruelty.

Looney claimed he was bringing home scraps for the dogs every night from his job at Taco Bueno.

“But, our officers felt like there was no way that that actually was happening, just because of the shape that the dogs were in,” Wagnon said.

Neighbors said they would have been more than happy to help the couple feed their pets.

“I just can’t believe that that was going on over there,” said Glenda Deaton. “We could’ve taken leftovers, scraps or anything over there, you know.”

Edmond police said all three dogs are expected to survive. They were taken to the Edmond Animal Shelter.

Looney also had municipal warrants for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers said the inside of the house was filthy and there was no food or water for the dogs inside the house or outside.
