Washington: Spokane Valley firefighters rescue stuck buck

WASHINGTON -- Spokane Valley fire crews were called to a driving range Friday to help get a buck untangled from driving range netting at the old Painted Hills Golf Course.

Firefighters got a call from a concerned citizen at around 8:30 a.m. Friday. Crews with Engine 9, Valley 21 and Ladder 8 arrived to help. Spokane County Fire crews also showed up for support.

Crews found a buck whose antlers were tangled in the driving range netting and the netting was wrapped around a pole. Fire crews used a piece of plywood keep the deer from kicking and were able to grab the antlers and cut the animal free.

In a Facebook post Friday, the fire department reported that once the buck was free, it took a drink and disappeared into the bush.
