Maine: Brunswick man Robert LaChance charged with animal cruelty

MAINE -- Robert LaChance is facing one count of aggravated cruelty to animals - a class C felony, after police say he struck his dog Buddy  and threw him against a wall last month.

LaChance was staying at this motel when guests in the next room heard him beating the dog and throwing it repeatedly against the wall. They called police.

Police say the assault happened while the dog was already suffering from another injury -- a fractured leg that reportedly went untreated for a week.

Buddy had to have his leg amputated, but did survive.
