Connecticut: Case continued for Lisa Lind-Larsen, 76, accused of starving horses

CONNECTICUT -- The case against a Redding woman charged with animal cruelty in 2014 was continued Wednesday until May 11.

Lisa Lind-Larsen, 76, is accused of badly neglecting two horses on her Packer Brook Road property in Redding.

Authorities said they found the two mustangs, Cheyenne and Chinook, with their ribs, hips and spines plainly showing. Their stalls were eight to nine inches deep in manure, water was scanty and unclean, and food supplies were scarce, according to court records.

In January Lind-Larsen, who is representing herself, applied for admission into a supervised diversionary program that could wipe away the charges against her.

At her brief court appearance Wednesday in Danbury Superior Court, prosecutors said that Lind-Larsen requested the case be continued so she could “consult with a private doctor.”

After being rescued, the horses gained hundreds of pounds.
