Maryland: Ashley Dashiell arrested after seen beating her small dog in a McDonald's parking lot

MARYLAND -- A woman was charged with disorderly conduct and animal cruelty on Thursday after she was seen beating her dog.

Police say a witness saw 36-year-old Ashley Dashiell punching a small dog several times on the head and attempted to place the dog in a trashcan.

When officers arrived on scene at Queen City Drive, they caught Dashiell with a black backpack where the dog was found inside. The dog appeared to be injured and visibly shaking without food or water.

The Allegany County Animal Shelter is currently taking care of the dog.

Corporal Keckley, from the Cumberland Police Department said,  "sad and disappointed in the way that she was treating her dog, I assume anybody would feel the same way, anybody who has a pet and is a animal lover hates to see that happen to a dog, especially a small dog as hers."

Dasheill was placed under arrest and is being held on a $3,000 bond.
