Salvador Rendon, 61, 1152 Ward St. NW, had 60 days of the sentence suspended by Judge Thomas Gysegem and was given credit for the 18 days he’s already been in the Trumbull County Jail.
Typically due to overcrowding and the offering of "good behavior", inmates only have to serve 1/3 of their time. So 12 days really only means 4 days. And if the judge continues to be sympathetic he may allow him to serve them over two weekends (check in Friday evening, leave Sunday evening and go back home) so it doesn't interrupt his personal life.
Before sentencing, Gysegem called the act “despicable.”
Authorities tell 21 News that the 61-year-old Ward Avenue man had RAPED his male boxer and female boxer at least 10 times over the past six years.
Investigators say they were tipped off to the acts by Rendon's wife, who reported him after allegedly catching him in the act several times.
Rendon also will be placed under the care of Coleman Professional Services for a psychiatric evaluation. Gysegem said he wants an update on his evaluation May 31, when he can amend the terms of the probation.
“The facts of this case cause this court great distress,” Gysegem said before sentencing. “There are a lot of implications at stake here. I don’t want to let go of this case for many reasons.”
