Police reported they found the animals in the 1200 block of 7th Street East, and said two of the dogs suffered from scabs, alopecia, and open sores. One of the dogs had open sores on more than 90 percent of her body.
The first, a black and white pit bull, was suffering from hair loss from the neck down, with scabs, alopecia and open sores over ninety percent of her body.
The second, a black pit bull, was suffering from thinning hair, sores on both legs, complete alopecia, excoriations, flea infestation and a hotspot on her cheek that was infected.
The animals have been taken to get medical treatment. They will be adopted out by Manatee County Both pit bulls were seen by a veterinarian that stated both animals are suffering unnecessary pain and suffering due to the lack of veterinary medical attention that was obviously needed.
Siebert handed over custody of the five dogs to Manatee County Animal Control. The dogs will be evaluated and treated for any injury or medical need and then adopted out by Manatee County Animal Services.
The dog's owner, Linda Siebert, was charged with two counts of third-degree animal cruelty charges.
