Michigan: Two people bitten by vicious pit bull in Melvindale

MICHIGAN -- Melvindale Police Officers were called to the 17000 block of Clarann at about 6:30 a.m. April 27 when residents were attacked by a dog they watching at the house.

When officers arrived they observed a “vicious” pit bull with blood all over its face and body according to a police report.

Officers took out a screen on the first floor bathroom and removed two children from the room. The two children told officers that their mother and sister were still in the house, and had been bitten according to the report.

Two officers there helped the mother out of the house from where she was barricaded in a first floor bedroom. She had bites on both of her legs and her left shoulder.

Officers then tried to catch the bloody dog, but it ran from them into a rear bedroom. At that point the dog was locked in the room until assistance could arrive.

The officers then helped the last child, who was also locked in a first floor bathroom.

The injured residents were treated and taken to a local hospital.

The pit bull and a second pit bull also in the house at the time of the attack, were captured by Wyandotte Animal Control Officer Chuck Gillenwater and turned over to police.
