OHIO -- The Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County is telling people in an Elyria neighborhood to keep their cats inside after some were allegedly shot with BB guns or pellet guns.
APL's executive director, Greg Willey told WKYC Channel 3's Hilary Golston, he worries the behavior could escalate.
The owners worry about the same thing.
There's a school near where the cats live and small children play in the area.
At least two cats have been shot, according to Willey. A third feral cat may have been shot, but neighbors have been unable to catch it.
Willey says the first cat was hospitalized last week Friday.
Both neighbor's live in the 100 block of Hamilton Street in Elyria.
One feline was so badly injured it had to stay at the veterinary hospital for a week.
Both cats have been returned home from the veterinarian.
It's unclear exactly when this happened, and whether the shootings occurred over a period of time or during one incident.
Authorities are looking for the culprit or culprits.
