Canada: Victim of Surrey pit bull attack lashes out at dog's owner for running off and leaving her to bleed out

CANADA -- The victim of a vicious pit bull attack in Surrey yesterday morning is speaking out and she is angry.

“It could have been a child, that child would have been dead.”

Speaking to Global News, Brenda Moon says the attack happened while the dog’s owner was inside a convenience store.

She says the dog was on a leash outside being looked after by a woman but when the dog went after her, the woman wasn’t holding the leash.

Moon was left with a severe arm injury, bleeding with her bones sticking out.

But she says what happened next with the owner shocked her.

“I heard him say ‘I’m taking the dog home.’ He’s an asshole, excuse me. But that’s what kind of lowlife he is. That’s what I think.”

Before surgery, Moon hoped for the best.

“Well I had a bone sticking out first of all and I had another bone sticking out this way”

“What I was really hoping yesterday too before I went into surgery….I hoped to God I could keep my arm, you know.”

Moon has some serious nerve damage in her arm and she might need plastic surgery in the future.

OWNER FLED WITH HIS PIT BULL AFTER ATTACK

Surrey RCMP are still looking for the owners and the pit bull.

Police say the dog is a grey Pit Bull with white markings around its neck.

The owner is described as a heavily-built Caucasian man wearing a tank top, shorts and a grey hat.

Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner says in the wake of the attack, the city is reviewing its dog bylaws.
