On Friday around 1 p.m., someone reported a dog was locked in a black SUV at the Sam’s Club on Crosspointe Drive while the outside temperature was around 90 degrees, the police report shows.
Officers asked the store to page the person who owned the vehicle, but it was not successful. Around 3 p.m., Evelyn Weber, 68, left with the store manager and told them it was her vehicle.
Weber said she hadn’t heard the store page, police said. She also said she hadn’t thought she would in the store for so long when ask why she left her dog alone in the car.
She was arrested and charged with ill treatment of animals and the dog was turned over to one of her friends.
