Two women were seriously hurt when Richard Darter's four pit bulls charged at them.
The dogs were put down.
Authorities said Darter had been cited several times in the past for allowing his dogs to roam from his property.
Darter was sentenced Monday to eight years, one for each dog bite.
Four years of the sentence will be served in jail and four years were suspended.
Darter was also ordered to pay restitution to his victims.
