Police said Alan Majerus was jailed on misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal damage and disorderly conduct after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend, injuring her hand and leg, and damaged items inside their home.
Majerus, 28, allegedly had been drinking when the couple got into an argument about laundry. During the argument, he picked up the woman’s cat and threw it against a bookshelf. The cat bounced off the furniture and ran away.
Majerus then pushed the woman onto the couch and held her down by her wrists, the police report said. He bent her finger back, causing injury, and then bent her leg up to her stomach, the report said.
While arguing, Majerus smelled food burning in the kitchen, so he went into the kitchen and removed a hot pan from the oven. He allegedly came after the woman with the hot baking sheet, threatening to burn her. The woman locked herself in the hallway bathroom as he banged on the door, possibly causing damage, police said.
She hid in the bathroom for 30 minutes, and when she eventually emerged, she found Majerus waving a 9mm handgun around and yelling at her. At one point, he pointed the gun at her, police said. He then put the gun away and grabbed a large butcher knife from the kitchen and began chasing her.
He put the knife down and grabbed the cat, picked up a knife, and threatened to kill the animal. He then grabbed her hair dryer and threw it, causing it to smash into pieces, police said. Eventually, the woman was able to get her car keys and run outside, where she ran to her car. Mujares followed, with a knife in his hand. She put the car in reverse and quickly left the driveway, police said.
Mujares denied the accusations and told police he was afraid the woman was trying to kill herself.
