Oklahoma: Police looking to arrest Joshia Freeman, 24, after he left his dog locked in a kennel to die

OKLAHOMA -- Cleveland County deputies are looking for a Norman man who is accused of animal cruelty.

Joshia Marcellus Freeman, 24, of Norman has been charged with felony cruelty to animals. An arrest warrant was filed on July 20.

Detectives said Freeman left an animal in a dog kennel in his apartment in May. Freeman had been evicted and property managers found the animal in a kennel inside a closet.

“Please help us find Joshia Freeman so that he can be held accountable for his actions,” Sheriff Joe Lester said. “This dog suffered from extreme neglect and was failed by her owner. No animal should ever have to go through this experience.”

The 3-year-old female Rottweiler was 30 pounds underweight when property managers found her and was left without water or food. She was covered in urine and feces, according to detectives.

The dog was taken to a veterinarian's office for care.

Detectives have attempted to contact Freeman, but has been unsuccessful.

Anyone who knows where Freeman is should contact the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office at 405-701-8870.
