Adam Thomas Schaeffer, 27, of the 300 block of Summit Drive, turned himself in Monday afternoon, township police Chief Mark Pugliese said. The incident happened Thursday night or Friday morning.
Police charged Schaeffer with a firearms violation, terroristic threats and cruelty to animals. He has a prior felony conviction and is not allowed to have a firearm, police said.
Schaeffer was arraigned and was released after posting $75,000 bail.
ARREST DETAILS:
Officer R. Bradfield has filed charges against Adam Thomas SCHAEFFER for an incident that occurred between the late evening hours of Thursday, 6/30/16 and the early morning hours of Friday, 7/1/16. Bradfield alleges that during a domestic argument Schaeffer threatened to shoot his estranged wife as well as himself. Bradfield further alleges that sometime during the night, Schaeffer had shot and killed his estranges wife’s pit bull and buried it in the back yard. Schaeffer has a prior felony conviction and is not to be in possession of a firearm.
A warrant was obtained for Schaeffer’s arrest. Anyone coming in contact with him should contact the police.All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
UPDATE: Schaeffer had turned himself in to authorities on 7/4/16. He was transported to Central Arraignment were he posted $75,000 cash bail. Preliminary Hearing pending.
