TEXAS -- A Big Sandy woman was arrested on July 3 after officers rescued a dog suffering from the heat locked inside her car.
Longview officers were called to the 500 block of North 4th Street and found a dog in distress locked inside a hot car.
Officers broke into the car to rescue the animal after determining it had been in the vehicle for more than an hour and the owner could not be located.
Longview Animal Control was called to the scene due to the animal's condition. The dog was rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic and is expected to make a full recovery.
Officers identified the vehicle's owner as 40-year-old Brandi Lea Matthews of Big Sandy. She was arrested for cruelty to animals, a class A misdemeanor and jailed on a $2,000 bond. She was released on bail later the same day.

What gets me is that people will get jail time and large fines for leaving their dog in a car, but will get NOTHING when their pit gets loose and kills another dog.
ReplyDeleteI know this women and she absolutely loves her dog, her son was in the car with the dog with the air running and the dog had ice water, her son did not think he would be gone for longer than a couple of of mins so he could run to the bathroom, and the dog was not suffering from any problems from heat exposure, the media needs to get the story right before trying to make someone look like a horrible person, which she is not!
