Texas: Seized horses being nourished back to health after being taken from serial hoarder Brenda Luellen

TEXAS -- Twelve severely malnourished horses that were seized last week by sheriff's deputies in Texas are being nourished back to health. The horses were taken from a property that belonged to 65-year-old Brenda Luellen aka Brenda Kenney.

She has not YET been charged with a crime, but the investigation is ongoing.

The nine mares and three foals are now at a veterinary hospital in San Angelo. Veterinarians there say the horse’s recovery is going to be a slow process, but they are increasing the amount and quality of feed they're giving to the animals.

Sgt. Corey Speck the investigator on the case says people see horses in this bad of shape, it really kind of strings at your heart. People want to see these horses have a better life and get better homes and that's what we're here for.

Animal services removed over 100 dogs from Luellen's home in 2008 and 2009.

She was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals and sentenced to a year in jail - but she only served 4 months in the county jail before they let her go free.

More animals - in bad condition- were seized from her in 2010 when she violated her probation terms just 5 months after being released early from county jail.
