Ohio: Woman tries to stop pit bulls from fighting over food. Big mistake.

OHIO -- Trotwood Police said crews responded to a house in the 1400 block of Elaine Street for a report of a dog attack in progress this afternoon.

Police located a 32-year-old female victim, who was the homeowner. She was watching two other dogs, along with her own dog. The victim, who was alert when police arrived, said two of the dogs begin fighting over food.

When she tried to step in to separate the dogs, one or both of the dogs attacked her. She received multiple bites to her hands, arms, legs and to her head.

Four children were in the house at the time. The children, who belonged to another friend of the victim’s, were unharmed. All four of the children were locked in a bedroom, and one managed to make an emergency call to report the dog attack, police said.

The owner of the dog — not the victim — could receive a citation for not registering one of the animals. Officials have not determined if that will happen.

“We believe these dogs were fighting over food and when the homeowner tried to break it up, she got attacked at that point,” said Trotwood Deputy Chief John Porter.

Officials will continue to investigate the incident.
