Pennsylvania: Officer fatally shoots pit bull after it bites man, woman

PENNSYLVANIA -- Police say an officer shot and killed a dog that attacked a man and a woman in south Philadelphia.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says police were called in the city's Point Breeze neighborhood around 8 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a pit bull that bit a woman.

An officer saw the pit bull biting a 28-year-old man who was walking his own dog and Small says the officer shot it once after he was unable to kick it away.

The man was bit on the finger and refused treatment. A 28-year-old woman had been bitten in both hands and was taken to a hospital, where she's in stable condition.

Small says it didn't appear to be a stray, but no one in the neighborhood had come to claim it.
