Florida: Edgar Marcial, 27, charged with cruelty after leaving his dogs in 103 degree vehicle

FLORIDA -- A man is facing animal cruelty charges after police found three dogs in distress locked inside a vehicle where temperatures reached 103 degrees, police said.

The rear windows of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, parked at the Volusia Mall, were open about 1 inch, and there were no visible water bowls when a security guard looked into the vehicle about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Daytona Beach police report.

After Animal Control officers got the three dogs out, one of the large dogs appeared unconscious and urinated on itself, and the small dog could barely stand on its own, police said.

Edgar Marcial, 27, who'd gone into the mall to buy clothes, was placed under arrest after returning to his car, according to the report.

Marcial, of New York, was charged with three counts of animal cruelty and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on $4,500 bail, which he posted Wednesday night, records show.
