West Virginia: Animal rescue group treats Hound dog that was bitten by a copperhead snake

WEST VIRGINIA -- Today we (Pet Helpers Inc.) are asking for prayers for this guy we have taken in as an emergency. Prayers it is not as serious as it looks.......possibly an allergic reaction or an infection from a neck wound that he has and that he will be quickly healed. We have named him Logar and will keep you updated.

This was Sunday morning when he arrived at the hospital

Logar was bitten by a snake likely a Copperhead. He is doing much better! If you look on the page there have been posted updates daily but we are expecting Logar to be released from the hospital today and he will be joining his foster in their home to get fattened up and to let his neck heal before his neuter surgery and adoption.

Update #1:
What a difference a day makes! Logar this evening most the swellling gone and he is off IV's and starting pills to continue treating the bite wound which is infected. Copperhead is a likely suspect. Logar should go to his foster home tomorrow to begin getting fattened up in preparation for neutering in the future. Then this guy will be ready for adoption! Thanks again for the prayers and a few have donated as well and it is truly appreciated.

Update #2:
Good Morning! Thank you all for your patience we know you have been waiting and watching for an update but we just needed to let Logar rest and let the medicine start working and it did start working!!! Logar's temp is normal this morning, the swelling is down, and he was able to eat some dry food this morning!! Great way to start the day! Thanks for your prayers and good thoughts that were sent Logar's way!

If you saw yesterday's post, Logar's face was so swollen his eyes were barely visible. Our vet believes he was bitten by a snake but since he was a stray there is no way to know for sure.
