The 15-year-old was bitten several times by the animal, which appeared to be a Rottweiler, at a house on Surprise Crescent in Bligh Park, NSW police said.
Emergency services were called to the property just after 1pm and paramedics from NSW Ambulance service treated the girl at the scene before taking her to Nepean Hospital.
She is in a stable condition.
Photos from the scene showed the girl being loaded into an ambulance with a bandage covering the right-side of her face.
The dog, which has been impounded, was pictured being placed inside a cage in the back of a van.
Dog owners can be held legally responsible if their dog attacks a person. They can be fined and banned from owning an animal.
