Kentucky: After asking people for money to help pay vet bill after Chihuahua is attacked by a pit bull, two women scold people for daring to say that the pit bull should be euthanized

(Thread from July 2016). What starts out as a request on the Facebook page "Louisville Lost & Found Pets Advocates" for donations for veterinary care after a Chihuahua was attacked by a pit bull turns into a scolding to those who dared suggest the attacking dog be put to sleep. I guess they just want your money but not your opinion...

KENTUCKY -- Swag was attacked by a pit bull around 7 pm he is a 4 yr old black and white chihuahua his vet bills are expensive and i am working part time and do not have a lot of money. The vet will not let me take swag home until he is stable and has surgery, as of so far he has a catheter, head and back trauma a broken rib and a hole in his lung, he is currently at Jefferson animal hospital (502-966-4104) , any vet donations are appreciated, he should be under swag Mattingly or Dylan Mattingly or Sarah Melton, (my brother and his fiancé are the ones that took him to the vet ) swag is struggling the last thing he needs is to be stuck in a vet for months because we can't afford to get him out. Please help God bless. Any questions call me 5022243383 please no calls after 10pm

Stephanie Roby Was the dogs out unattended? Some dogs are just pray driven. My dogs bark at any and everything. Pit bulls are made out to be bad dogs that's not the case. Could just be prey driven.

Melly Moonbeam My pit mix has a very high prey drive and he will go after other dogs. Because of that, he is NEVER out of my sight/control. We were walking in our neighborhood and 2 yorkies were going nuts, barking at us, got out of the fence, ran up and started attacking us. Yes, the yorkies started it. Bear (my dog) had one of the yorkies by the neck before I could blink. I've worked with Bear on "soft mouth," so that he doesn't bite hard. I had to pick Bear up and hold him upside down to get him to release the yorkie. Thank goodness he didn't bite hard and the yorkie had no injuries. It's scary how some dogs just act on instinct. Pit bulls, and other terriers, were bred to find and kill small animals like rats and rabbits. Pits are great, but, you just need to take precaution if you need to.

Suzie Gafford Bright Oh, poor swag ! How is the puppy patient this morning? I will be glad to help any way I can ! First , a thought is, apply for credit care at the Vet, then you will have time to pay payments with no interest , while you get money from the pit owner ! Also, if possible , change Vets, Jefferson Animal Hospital , is higher than a cats back, if Swag is stable , move to Elk Creek , or Rescue One, they will take payments over the hone, and except credit care, I believe , Praying <3

Hannah Jae Mattingly We don't know if we want to move him, the price is high yes, but he isn't in not condition to be moved, he's stable but he's in shock.

Suzie Gafford Bright Maybe Dr. Alan, with Rescue One will go pick the pup up ? $2000-$3000 seems high , send the bill to Rescue One and have them look at it, and send you what they will charge .

Andi Edwards If you don't have that kind of money transferring to a place that can be affordable may be your best chance at saving him no vet works for free

Suzie Gafford Bright And, apply for credit care, or if your credit is not that great maybe have a family member apply .

Stephanie Roby Not placing any blame at all but was both dogs off leash? Was your baby in your yard? Are they fenced in? Or was you all walking your dog on a leash?

Stephanie Roby I'm so hoping little swag is going to be ok

Stephanie Roby I'm wondering if a rescue can be found for the other dog? Sounds more like the owners fault. But putting the other dog down because he is prey driven sucks. There are precautions that can be taken to make sure that never happens again.

Stephanie Roby We are a animal advocates page and don't mean to sound unsympathetic by no means because I can't imagine if that would have been one of my babies but we don't advocate to have another dog put down because of bad owners of the other dog.

Thanks Stephanie Roby for telling people what they can and can't talk about.

Stephanie Roby Is the owner mean and vicious or prey driven? If taken out on a muzzle or a high fence would this have happened. Probably not. Has the dog bitten a person badly?

Hannah Jae Mattingly I hope they don't put her down. Just need her away from my house or they need to build a taller fence sometimes they leave her tied up out front

Donna Okeefe Yes they need be more responsibile. I have a mean dog but he doesn't get anyone either. It's called a leash its not that hard.

Donna Okeefe Metro will make them keep her in. If they can't keep the dog in then they take the dog. See how it's behavior is....

Donna Okeefe Please tell u neighbors to get training.

Tabitha Pickens We don't need any discussions about the dog being put down. Everyone has their opinions, but in the end, Animal Control and the County Attorney will make that decision. This post and the comments should be kept to the discussion of getting the dog healed.

Tabitha Pickens thinks she is Hall Monitor and takes it upon herself to start telling people what they should and should not discuss.

Tabitha may want to remember that it's not a good idea to piss people off when you're asking them for money. It's also funny that she admits "everyone has their opinions" while telling them not to give them...
