Texas: Neighbor files lawsuit after being attacked by neighbor's dog

TEXAS -- A La Marque man is suing his neighbors, alleging their negligence allowed their pet dog to attack and injure the plaintiff.

James Skadowski filed a lawsuit Oct. 18 in Galveston County District Court against Louis Perrin and Susan Perrin, alleging they breached their duty to exercise reasonable care to prevent their dog from injuring others.

According to the complaint, on June 2, Skadowski was home watching television when defendant Susan Perrin called him and asked for help freeing her dog from a chain link fence. However, the suit says, the dog panicked and bit Skadowski on the face and neck.

The lawsuit states Skadowski suffered physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, and medical expenses. The plaintiff alleges the Perrins failed to prevent the dog from running at large, failed to prevent the dog from becoming a public nuisance and failed to muzzle a dog in distress before seeking assistance to help free the pet.

Skadowski seeks trial by jury, actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs and all other relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by attorney Gary Lee of Houston.
