Police officers arrived at Cruz's home around 1 a.m. on Nov. 30 and found the dog mauling a naked woman in a driveway. The officers shot and killed the pit bull.

Cruz initially claimed to police that his dog ACCIDENTALLY got loose and attacked his girlfriend.

A witness said she was by this pile of leaves, so
exhausted that she wasn't even struggling or screaming
any longer while the pit bull was "chewing on her"

The victim suffered serious injuries with more than 10 surgeries and remained hospitalized long after the attack. During the incident, a stray bullet accidentally hit Cruz, but he was not seriously injured.
