New York: Clarence Grover, 31, left his St. Bernard to suffer for months with an infected broken leg, say police

NEW YORK -- A 31-year-old Canandaigua man has been arrested after his dog was found neglected.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is charging Clarence Grover with felony aggravated cruelty to an animal.

The Ontario County Humane Society says a St. Bernard named B-Dog had a broken leg, which was left untreated for several months.

As a result, her leg became infected and she was unable to stand or walk on it, according to officials.

The Humane Society says B-Dog, believed to be eight or nine-years-old, was so emaciated that she was immediately transported to a veterinarian who recommended that she be euthanized to relieve her suffering.

Grover will appear in Manchester Town Court at a later date.
